A small farm, stacked. The top of this 105 cm frame is a round yellow nest shaped like a chick, tail and all, deep enough for a cat to curl into and high enough to survey the room from. Below it sits a pale blue platform, and below that a cow-print board in black and white. The colours do the work of a cat tree without looking like one.

Cats want height for the same reason they want a view: it is where they feel safest. Three levels give a cat a route up and a choice of where to stop, and there is room for two or three to climb and settle at the same time, so it works in a multi-cat house rather than becoming one cat's territory.

The posts between the levels are wrapped in jute rope, wound tight so claws get purchase. That means the structure a cat climbs is the same one it scratches, which is how you get a post used rather than politely ignored. Two yellow felt chicken feet dangle under the top nest, hanging right where a cat on the platform below can reach them.

The base is a thickened board finished in green teddy-look fleece and measures 60 × 53 cm, wide enough to hold the frame steady when a cat lands from height. Everywhere a cat lies down, the surface is soft: faux rabbit fur, crystal plush and wool felt over engineered wood.
