š¾ Did You Know? Your Catās Tongue Can Wear Down Plastic!
Your catās tongue isnāt just cute ā itās a natural exfoliator made of tiny barbed hooks called papillae, the same tough material as claws. When your cat licks their plastic bowl every day, those microscopic hooks scrape the surface like fine sandpaper, creating small scratches you canāt see.
Over time, these scratches do two things:
- They trap bacteria that can cause odours or skin irritation around your catās chin.
- They release microplastic particles into food and water ā tiny bits that can end up inside your catās body.
Ceramic bowls, like our Fussy Cat Slow Feeder Bowl and our Fussy Cat Ceramic Water Fountain are much tougher. Their smooth glazed finish resists scratching, so you (and your cat) can enjoy clean, safe mealtimes without worrying about microplastic wear and tear.
