Fussy Cat Water Fountain - Cleaning guide

Its easy to keep the internals of the water pump clean and sanitary on the Fussy Cat Water Fountain. Here’s how:

  1. Ensure that you don't submerge the top of the pump as the USB charging port is not waterproof.
  2. Take the fountain over to the sink and rinse out.
  3. Remove the water filter from its tray and small black debris filter from the base of the pump.

  4. Fill the fountain to 3/4 full with warm water and add 1 teaspoon of VWP Steriliser and mix until dissolved.
  5. Reassemble the fountain (be sure to leave out the filters!) and activate the fountain.
  6. Let the solution run through the fountain for 10-15 minutes or as long as necessary.
  7. If its heavily soiled, place it somewhere out of reach of your cat set to timer mode and leave overnight.
  8. Rinse with clean cold water and ensure you activate the pump to rinse thoroughly.

That's it! You have cleaned and sterilised the Fussy Cat Water Fountain.

 

If you have a fountain that is no longer pumping, there is likely a fur blockage that needs clearing (usually caused my a missing/incorrectly fitted debris filter). To do that:

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of Vamoosh Pet Hair Dissolver into a mug of hot water (70 degrees or so).
  2. Remove the debris filter (as above).
  3. Turn on the pump so that it is active.
  4. If the pump is not running, tap the base of the pump whilst holding it vertically.
  5. Repeat until you can feel the pump running (it may need a sharp tap).
  6. Pop it into the Vamoosh solution ensuring that the USB socket remains dry and the pump outlet returns the solution to the mug.
  7. Leave it running for 15-20 minutes (connect it to USB power and place it in timer mode for continual operation).
  8. Rince thoroughly with fresh water to ensure it is clean.
